How to Stick with Your Fitness Goals

Guys, it’s FOR REAL now. I just got back from a meeting with my coach. I am now officially registered for the Jax Physique show on April 8, 2017!

I have found that the best way to stick with fitness goals is to sign up for a competition or event. It can help hold you accountable. Plus, you’ll be out money if you don’t follow through.

There’s no backing out now.

Well, that’s kind of a lie. I keep obsessively checking to see if I have abs yet. If I don’t on April 7th, I am totally backing out. I’m forfeiting $300 (plus the $600 for coaching, $300 for the suit, $20 for jewelry and $44.94 for the shoes) and calling it a day.

Turns out there is a veeeeery fine line between following 300 fitness models on Instagram so that you stay focused…and having a mental breakdown. Every time they post their “10 weeks out” pictures I have a minor panic attack.

I think week 4 is why more people don’t compete. There is no instant gratification in this process. It’s just 5 meals of chicken and broccoli every day and residual soreness. But it’s also kind of addicting.

Ways To Reward Yourself Besides Food

And on that note, since I am no longer rewarding myself with cheetos and cheesecake. I told myself my “treat” would be a new fitness-focused Instagram account once I officially registered for my first show.

For some of you, it might seem like it’s only been a minute. However, I’ve been working on this for a year now! The fitness aspect, not creating an Instagram account (that takes 5 clicks). Anyways, I didn’t want to jump the gun just in case I decided to bail. But I didn’t. And I haven’t. And I’m ready to go all the way with this fitness thing.

So, I hope all of you who have been following my fitness goals progress over the past year will continue to cheer me on at lucilleporterfit. It’s so official sounding, right?!
